Stuttgart 5: Towers, forests & parks

The police tower on the Raichberg, in the east of Stuttgart.

The Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest on the Wasen. In the background, you see the Kraftwerk Münster.

The Klingenbachpark is right next to where I live. From there, you see the Gaskessel - again.

A nice, foggy view on the church in Stuttgart-Gablenberg.

I forgot from where I shot this, but it is the Fernsehturm Stuttgart.

My favorite shot from a short walk through the Dürrbachklinge. It connects the "Waldebene Ost" (forest plain east) with Stuttgart-Rohracker.

Stuttgart 4: Black and white

This is the Gaisburg church, photographed from the tram station Schlachthof ("abattoir").

Photographed from a bridge over the Neckar. On the left, you can see the Gaisburg power plant. On the right, the Gaskessel.

The moon sets over the Villa Bosch. Photographed from my balcony.

Yes, it's the Gaskessel again. You can also see Gaisburg church again if you look close enough.

Stuttgart 3: Hills, stairs and views

Stuttgart is quite hilly. That's bad for cycling but good for walks on the hills and nice views.

Stuttgart is also known for its stairs ("Stäffele"). It has a lot of them (more than 400), and they have a total length of over 20 kilometres. This is a photograph of the "Buchwaldstaffel".

View over Gablenberg.

View over the east of Stuttgart. Photographed from the observatory. You can see the stadium, the church in Gaisburg, the Mercedes Benz Museum and, again, the Gaskessel.

This small path leads to the Buchwaldstaffel.

Stuttgart 2: Park Berg

This post is dedicated to "Park Berg", a little park in the east of Stuttgart.
As always: If you want to look at the photographs, please click on them to maximize them in your browser window.

There is the Gaskessel again. View from Park Berg through a few trees.

A little gate-like construction just before the Villa Berg.

Since the Villa Berg is abandoned for quite some time now, the trees are growing wild around it.

The Villa Berg with some shut-down fountains.

Stuttgart 1

Over the past few months, I collected a few pictures of my new home town Stuttgart. Here are the first few.

The first photograph is made from a nearby hill. You can see the small church in Gaisburg on the left, the top of the "Gaskessel" on the right. The Gaskessel is a huge gas reservoir that can be seen from almost every point in the east of Stuttgart. In the middle of the picture, you can see the Ferris wheel from the "Stuttgarter Volksfest" on the "Cannstatter Wasen". (If you really want to look at the pictures, you should click on them to view them in full size.)

On the next photograph you can see the "Mercedes Benz Arena", the home of the Bundesliga football team of Stuttgart: VfB Stuttgart. Also, on the right, you can see the Mercedes Benz Museum next to the highway leading into the Remstal. Between the standpoint of the photographer and the stadium, there is the Neckar river.

You already saw the small church in Gaisburg and the Gaskessel in the first picture. Here, only their shadows are visible. Behind them, you can see the fireworks from the Stuttgarter Volksfest.
